Is Trump God’s Candidate?

In a few hours from now America will have a new President. Many Christians are still on the fence…stuck between a rock and a hard place. Hillary is not their choice due to the liberal/progressive/anti-Biblical agenda she espouses and then we have Donald Trump, the billionaire with ‘New York values’.  There will also be a few who’ll waste their vote by abstention or cast their ballot to Jill / Gary / McCain or some random name.

#NeverTrumpers in the Christian circles are vocal about their opposition to Trump. Their beef is with his lifestyle: the casinos, multiple marriages, his language & that he has not asked for forgiveness. They say one cannot support Trump with a clear conscience.

On the other hand Christian leaders like Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffress, Jerry Falwell Jr, James Dobson, David Jeremiah, etc., acknowledge that we aren’t electing Trump for a leadership position in a church.

What must a Christian do? The church leadership has not given a simple answer on whether or not to vote for Trump. It’s my hope that this blog post provides you the clarity from a Biblical perspective.

THE ENEMY OF MY ENEMY IS MY ALLY

There are friends, enemies and frenemies. Friends & enemies are easy to detect, but the Judases are masters of deceit.

A friend of my enemy is my enemy. This is not just another old proverb, the Bible says so too.  James writes in Chapter 4 “Do you not know that the  friendship with the world is enmity with God?  So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world, makes himself an enemy of God”.

The word ‘world’ (kosmos in Greek) – to refer the ungodly system that’s running our world.   It includes the mainstream media Hollywood, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, the political establishment (both GOPe and Democratic), the religious establishment, FBI, DoJ  etc. We know the world is in the lap of the evil one.  And it is anti Christian.

The “world” has made its choice for the President, and it’s Hillary.

She is a liberal who’s pro-gay, pro-abortion, pro-Islam and stands for everything that’s anti-christian.

The mainstream media in collusion with the Clinton machine has bombarded the airwaves with multiple fabricated negative stories about Trump while FBI and DOJ have successfully done their bit in protecting Hillary from her many scandals.

CNN, CBS, PBS, NYTimes, Washington Post, Politico, Huffington Post, Slate, Vox, etc openly mock & never publish anything positive about Christ / The Bible.  They are crafty & have conspired to get Hillary elected.

They are delighted to have prominent Christian leaders on their side to discourage Christians from voting for Trump or voting altogether. Max Lucado, Russel Moore, Tabiti Anyabwile, Erick Erickson and the like have unwittingly become the enemies of God by appearing on these networks to oppose Trump.

As a believer I need to make a choice. Should I stand with this worldly system that’s anti-Christian or take a stand against it?

If the world that despises Christ HATES Trump, then Trump is our guy.

Can God use a flawed candidate?

Some just CANNOT bring themselves to VOTE TRUMP who’s labeled a racist, misogynist,  xenophobe and a wretched sinner.

God used a raven (an unclean animal) to deliver bread & meat to Elijah. The prophet should’ve have rejected  God’s provision because it was wrong both from a biblical & moral point of view. BUT HE DIDNT. If God can use an unclean raven to take care of his prophet, then he surely can use Trump to get His will done!

God has used Rahab, Bethsheba, Nebuchadnezzar, Darius, Cyrus, Samson, Solomon and many other imperfect people (including us) to play a part in His scheme of things.

It’s NOT about Trump.  It’s about US

I have heard Christians say that we’re making a big deal about Hillary.  She’d be in the White House for 4 years, and then we’ll elect a “morally upright” candidate in 2020 (possibly Ted Cruz OR Rubio OR Ryan) who’ll set things straight.

Hillary will appoint liberal justices to the Supreme Court – some of them will be there for the next 30-40 yrs!  It is not a stretch to imagine that in the first 100 days she will ban pastors preaching against LGBTQs, and kill private Christian educational institutes.

Hillary, is a crusader for open borders.  She will be America’s Angela Merkel.  Look at the state of affairs in Germany, France, Sweden, Belgium & the rest of EU. She will pave way for Christian persecution by liberals on one hand & Islamists on the other.

Trump, on the other hand, is FOR CHRISTIANS. He’s the first one on the trail who  recognized Christian persecution in the Islamic world.  He opposes the liberals who are killing Christianity by a thousand cuts here in America. He wants to restore religious (Christian) liberty.

Your Vote Matters?

9858fee2410b3d52f79ca1c35044af74It’s true that we play an important role in a democracy.  However it bodes well  to remind ourselves that God has not delegated the king making business to us. God is still in charge. He is the one who deposes kings and raises new ones (Daniel 2:21).  God’s at the helm & that’s comforting

If God deems Trump to be the next president, we cannot stop it. If he is NOT God’s choice we can’t get him elected.

  1. Yes, all leaders are appointed by God. But its entirely possible, that God put Trump as president not because God likes or finds anything in Trump worth commending. Didn’t God allow Israel to have terrible leaders? If you keep one commandment and break the rest, you are a law breaker in the eyes of God. Trump may be pro life and anti-lgbt marriage, but he is also judgemental and partial when it comes to people of color.
